Attack on Titan Season 4 – Part 2 :
release date, cast, plot, and everything fans need to know

The Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 release date has been officially confirmed to be scheduled for Winter 2022 by FUNimation.

The announcement was made at the end of Attack On Titan Season 4 Episode 16. The anime TV series will pick up the Final Season again in the winter with Attack On Titan Episode 76 (or Attack On Titan Season 4 Episode 17).

The official title of the continuation is Attack On Titan: The Final Season Part 2.

During the MAPPA 10th Anniversary Stage live stream event in late June 2021, the studio only confirmed once again that the release date would be in Winter 2022.

The official website also released an Attack On Titan Final Season Part 2 trailer that previewed Attack On Titan 76: Judgment.

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 release date: What does Winter 2022 mean?

As of the last update, MAPPA or any company related to the anime production has not officially confirmed the exact Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 release date.

Studio MAPPA officially confirmed that the Final Season will have a Part 2 that’s a split-cour anime season. It’s going to be released in the Winter.

Once the news is officially confirmed, this article will be updated with the relevant information. In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when the Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 2 premiere date will occur in the future.

There’s a good reason that we knew in advance that the Final Season’s second cour would be a split-cour. The Kingdom Season 3 anime rebroadcast is also starting in spring 2021. That TV show previously occupied the Japanese TV broadcast schedule time-slot occupied by Attack On Titan.

But what does a Winter release date mean in this context? Typically, when the anime industry says Winter in the current year they mean Winter 2022, which means January 2022.

The FUNimation news blog also specifically states, “Attack on Titan Final Season Episode 76 is officially in production and will arrive during the Winter 2022 anime season.”

The 800-pound titan in the room is the odd number of episodes. The first cour released in December 2020 due to having 16 episodes. Thus, some anime fans might be hoping that Part 2 will have a similar number of episodes (around 14 to 16 episodes) and the Attack On Titan Episode 76 release date will be in December 2021. Besides the fact that such release schedules are a rarity in the anime industry, Part 1 was specifically advertised to be released in Fall 2020 despite the bulk of the episodes premiering in Winter 2021.

Considering that FUNimation is specifically stating that the Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 release date is Winter 2022 it will premiere in January 2022. (See below for a detailed analysis of the episode count.)

There hasn’t been any announcement for the number of episodes in Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2, but then again, we also didn’t really know the number of episodes for Season 4 Part 1 either — until clever fans figured it out due to Blu-Ray pre-orders.

Even if we don’t have official confirmation, we can take an educated guess based on how previous seasons have adapted the best-selling manga. So far, the anime has adapted between two and three manga chapters per episode. Season 4 Part 1 ended with episode 75 adapting up until Chapter 117, and given the manga just ended with its 139th chapter, that leaves the anime with 22 chapters to adapt before the end.

Given that the announcement for the next season included an episode and a title, it is probably safe to discard the idea that the final season will be done as a movie — though it is still possible that the very last couple of episodes get stitched together into a full feature. Still, with 22 chapters left to adapt, we can assume Season 4 Part 2 will be somewhere around the 10 or 11-episode mark, which is almost a full “cour” (season) of anime and would give studio MAPPA (if it ends up returning to animate the last episodes) enough time to do the story justice and not rush through i

It’s still too early for an official synopsis of Season 4 Part 2 to arive, but based on where Part 1 left us, it is pretty safe to assume we’re headed for full-blown war. Even by Attack on Titan standards, No one will be safe.

The season ended with the remaining military forces of Marley literally dropping out of the sky on The Shiganshina District (the town where the entire show began) to capture or kill Eren. Eren did just decimate most of Marley’s military (and kill thousands of civilians) so it stands to reason that they’d not let that stand.

Will Eren activate the Rumbling and use the Colossal Titans hiding in the walls surrounding Paradis Island to stop the Marley army? Will he get killed by Reiner? What the hell happened to Levi? We’ll have to wait and see.
